Whiny Wednesday

I still feel like ca-ca, though less than I did yesterday. I took Nyquil last night and had drug-induced dreams of Anne of Green Gables arguing with me about sudoku puzzles. If that doesn’t make for a fitful sleep I don’t know what does.

The kids ditched me today for their friends. I can’t imagine why they would rather play with buddies instead of hanging out here, listening to me blow and watching me fall asleep in the chair. But whatever.

I finally managed to do a little grocery shopping yesterday, but before I could put the food away I had to clean out the fridge. I pulled out six or seven containers of some kind of ancient consumable and placed them on the counter so I’d have room for the good, edible food I had just purchased. After that I needed a nap so I just left the crud on the counter. When I went up to bed at 8:30 last night they were still sitting on the counter but I didn’t have the energy or the care to do anything with them. This morning they were suspiciously gone. And I can’t find the containers which leads me to the conclusion that Todd didn’t actually empty them, but rather he threw them away. Not just the mystery matter inside, but the actual containers. Some of them were really good containers. But do I care? Not really. Because caring takes energy and I have none.

Which is why the wreck of a house I’m existing in doesn’t bother me. I’m just looking forward to my date with Nyquil tonight and hope I don’t dream about a vicious red head with a penchant for number puzzles.

**Addendum**

I have confirmation that yes, Todd did, in fact, throw the containers away. As pertains to the house he also informed me he’s staying at the Marriott Courtyard tonight. He’s a funny guy!!

  1. Tell Todd that you’ll stay at the Marriott Courtyard too, and enjoy their maid service! And, that Thera-Flu stuff works pretty good too…. got my crud under control after a weekend of sleep.

  2. LOL.Before Jeff and I got married, and we were still living in dorms, Jeff left for California one summer, and packed dirty dishes away in a box, which was left in storage all summer at the college. Hot, humid storage. He returned to dishes that had 2 inch long mold hair growing off of it. YUCK! Needless to say, he threw out the entire box.

  3. Terri – I’m actually feeling much better today than I did yesterday. I went to bed at 9:00 and slept until 9:30 this morning.Becky – EWWWWWW!!!!!Deb – I wonder what my dreams will be like tonight.

  4. Oh no-sick dreams are the worst. I am glad to hear you are doing better today. Sometimes it is better to throw away the containers of mystery goop rather than clean them . . .the fuzzy food gives me the willies and then spend time and energy searching for fuzz on other food, then i am obsessed with the fuzz . . .see, better just thrown away!

  5. Oh Jenster, you are too funny. Sounds definately like a Nyquil induced dream to me. My husband had a major case of the flu right now and is taking nyquil too. I hope you start feeling better soon. (((HUGS)))Pamper, pamper and pamper yourself, all week. That is an order. You need to get as much rest as you can before going back to school, with all those adorable, but germ invested wee, little ones. I did attendance calls today at school, so many kids out with the flu and other stuff. Did I ever tell you, I get WAY too much information when I call to see why little Johnny is not in school? A simple, “he is sick.” would be nice. I get too many details. But, I digress, you rest as much as you can.Thinking of you. Let me know if you need any good books, I’ve got tons of them!XOXOXO

  6. That’s whining? Good grief, woman, you’re a total amateur 🙂 I love this: “I can’t imagine why they would rather play with buddies instead of hanging out here, listening to me blow and watching me fall asleep in the chair. But whatever.” That is just priceless. Jill

  7. I’m glad you’re feeling a bit better, but I’m hoping you’re completely healed soon. Probably gonna take 5-7 days, though. ;0) My house has crud. I’m thinking of hiring a maid. Do they do laundry, dishes, dusting, vaccumming, de-cluttering? ‘Cause I could really use it. 🙁

  8. I am both sympathizing with you for being sick and laughing cuz you’re dang funny. I probably wouldn’t have cared about the containers either.

  9. Bless your heart. I’m glad you have finally turned the corner on this one. Todd sounds like husbands across the country…He finds the quickest course of action and sees it through (right into the trash). No emotion for them over “good” containers. ;)Now you’re scaring me about AoGG. Maybe I won’t read it after all. Because I already don’t like Sudoku. xxoxooGretchen

  10. My husband would have just had the attitude of “we can go buy more” It’s not worth the $x dollars. Then again, my husband may not have noticed them anyways. Todd’s taking you to the Mariott? Thats so sweet! Tell him all your blogger friends think he’s nice. 😉

  12. But if you think about it, wouldn’t you rather have the containers thrown away than have to deal with the yuck inside of them? I personally wouldn’t throw the containers away, but if someone else did…well, I can’t say I would be too upset.I hope you feel better quick!

  13. I’m sorry you’re sick, but that post is hilarious! I can’t wait to hear about tonight’s dreams!I cleaned my fridge before I left on my trip, and this morning I couldn’t find my coffee. I’m guessing that As I set out things to dispose of, I put the coffee in the stack by accident. Brand new, $11 designer coffee!! Arghhh!

  14. Awww…you just need to rest and pamper yourself. You want newer and better containers anyway…right?Your husband is funny. My husband would’ve thrown them out too. :)Thank you for your thoughtful words. Feel better soon. 🙂

  15. I’m sorry you’re sick!! That is no good, I had a date with Nyquil last night too, it’s funny how quickly that crap kicks in!I’m all about throwing nasty containers away. I do it more than I like to admit!

  16. Hmm….mysteries inside containers…that sounds familiar to me…lol I used to do that too-just throw the entire container-matter and all-into the trash. Of course, I could have made some money by sending it to the local lab for experimentation….lolGod bless you, and I am glad you are feeling better.Have a wonderful Easter!!!Karol Lynn
