No More Exercise

I’ve decided I’m not going to exercise ever again. I’ve never been good at keeping up with it so why even try?

Instead I’m going to be in training. Building muscle and endurance so I can walk in a few 5Ks and even the Susan G. Komen 3 day walk in October.

So please, do not use the “E” word in front of me.

Thank you for your cooperation.

  1. training sounds much more important and fun and DOABLE than the e-word! brilliant!!!by the way, i would run, not walk, to ANYTHING you were the speaker in… what kind of topics did you use to teach?

  2. The E word is the devil. Really, it is. I never use it. I love the word training, and I love the word work out. Because let’s face it, you ARE training (and I am too, for the Boston Marathon, ambitious I know…). I am so proud of you! You will do them all and you will be amazing, I just know it.

  3. His Girl – To say I was a “speaker” is a bit much. I did devotionals and that sort of thing for ladies’ lunches and a retreat. Ten or 15 minutes or so. But I loved it!Dorky – Why you gotta be that way??Dee – I would love to run, but my knees say otherwise. Maybe someday… Good luck with Boston Marathon!!

  4. Yeah for training!! And yeah for you preparing for the walk…you will love it..one of the best things I did in the fall was the one here…doing it again this coming fall.

  5. Eileen – I thought it was rather inspired! lolSherry – Ironically, I was a huge supporter of the Race for the Cure for years before I was diagnosed. I think I walked in it either 5 or 6 times – I even captained a team for two years. OCH! I’ll have to post about the year I was going through chemo and couldn’t walk – what the church team did for me that year. It was incredible! So I’m really looking to finally getting back into it!

  6. Great way to think of it. It’s so much more motivating!!I can’t wait to hear all about the 3 day walk in October. I think that sounds so awesome!! And the 5K is so fun (as you know.) I ran my first 5K last year at the Komen race. 🙂

  7. exercise is evil. I did it with my husband and just copied what he did on Saturday. My arms hurt. Then yesterday I had to waitress and lift all those heavy plates. Therefore exercise is evil.

  8. Wow…I like that! Training has a much better connotation than exercise. Thanks for the idea!!! I really enjoy doing 5K’s. I cry nearly every time I finish one. It’s like I’ve accomplished a mini-goal, whether I’ve trained or not. 🙂

  9. You go, girl! A marathon?! Wow!I have a couple marathon runners in my Bible Study group, and I expressed to Jeff that I’d love to start training for one, and he just guffawed. (I get no respect around here.) You’d think keeping after one very active toddler would count for something, but alas…no changes on the scale. Not that the Christmas shortbread had anything to do with that…

  10. That’s it! It’s the word!Funny but I’ve been thinking about how I’d like to get more ‘active’ cause anytime I use the E word even I start to laugh.A 3 day walk? I’m speechless. Seriously, I’m not sure I would try that for money! Course ask me a few weeks into my diet and I’ll probably do it for an order of fries ;)CIndyS

  11. At one time in my life I was fairly well regimented for E. But in the last 30, no so much! I finally decided a couple years ago that if I do, I do, and if I don’t, I don’t. Period. I just try to stay active and not let the sedentary life take over. And here I sit, blogging!! LOL! I think I’ll go get out that yoga DVD I bought. Maybe. Please do a post about the church team. I’d like to hear that.

  12. Hmm…great strategy! I hate to ex….., er, well…you know.. and it is almost impossible to get to a gym at this point in my life.In two more years, I will have no more excuses as the kids will both be in school all day long.

  13. I “trained” today for the first time since before the holidays and my whole body is sore . . .I need some of Jillian on Biggest Loser to kick me into shape!!On a side note, we have volunteered for the 3 day in Philly before . . .we hope to see you there!

  14. Well good for you! Unfortunately, I am too smart for myself, so if I tried to fool me by saying it’s training instead of exercising, I would bust myself for being a liar. LOL Good Luck!!
