It’s All About The Weather

It seems that Winter has Wunt. (If Spring was Sprung, doesn’t it stand to reason that Winter has Wunt?) Monday was a very mild if not warm day, but yesterday we had a wintry mix from about 11:00 a.m. until into last night.

The kids and I were really hoping for a 2 hour delay this morning, but no such luck. Sookie decided she needed to go out at 3:30 this morning and that’s when I knew there would be no automated phone call from the school district. You could hear the drip, drip of melting ice and snow everywhere. Thankfully she was quick to go about her business and I managed a couple more hours of sleep before I had to get up at my regular time. Even though there was a whole lotta thawing going on I snapped some good photos this morning, too.

Monday morning we leave for Palm Springs. We’re supposed to get more wintry mix on Sunday night. Do you know what that potentially means? Difficulty getting to the airport for our 7:00 AM flight and/or flight delays because Philly is notorious for their scheduling problems due to weather. But since this is only Wednesday the forecast is most likely off. I’m sure it’s going to be clear skies and mild temperatures and everything will be running like clockwork. (Please God, from my fingers to your eyes.)

I’m sure the ten day forecast is way off, too. There’s no way Southeast Pennsylvania is going to enjoy a White Christmas like the weatherman is saying. It would be wrong for this area to have a Currier & Ives Christmas when we’ll be in the desert. I’m 43-years-old (or something like that) and I’ve never had a White Christmas. We had an ice storm one year in Arkansas that made everything white, but it’s not quite the same thing. Surely the Philly burbs will wait until next Christmas to have a snow down.

And while I’m talking about Christmas, I must apologize for my last post. Not enough to delete it, mind you. I still mean everything I wrote, but I wrote it while I was in a mood. Probably shouldn’t do that anymore. And lest you think I am a total Grinch, the kids and I went to see one of those musical Christmas light houses tonight. Now THAT’S entertainment!

  1. hehe snow!! HEY, guess what . . we’ll be at the airport at the same time on Monday . . .’cept we are going to Wisconsin . . .I think maybe I’ll try and get on your flight instead . . .Love your photos–what is that beastly thing around Sookie’s neck–invisible fence, jump zapper, bark stopper, huh huh huh?? Riley has decided it is his job to single handedly hoover up the snow on the ground and doesn’t come in are anything. I sure hope the fascination with the white stuff ends soon, as it looks like winter might be staying for a bit this year. I think we have gotten more this year so far then we did all of last year, eh?PS–i think we commenters should have to make up definitions for our verification words . .for instance “reemorit” is when you read more of it then you thought you did!

  2. You didn’t need that part of the deck anyway, right? 🙂 I lurve the pics, Jenster, especially the drippy ones, but all…gorgeous!BTW, I think a stray rant every now and then does the body good. And I agreed w/every word. Here’s hoping that the Jenster family has a wonderful, complication-free flight to CA and that it’s sunny and hot in PA, too, so as not to ruin theonlywhitechristmasblahblahblah.xxxooo

  3. We are currently nestled in beneath a foot of snow…in the desert! The pass near our home has been closed off and on for the past couple of days, and friends of ours who live only 40 minutes from here in the mountains are buried under 4 FEET!While I LOOOOVE the idea of a White Christmas…I want the roads cleared up enough so I can somehow meet up with you in Cali! Are you going to be online while on your vaycay?!

  4. It looks like you’ll have a whiter Christmas in Palm Springs than in Philly, LOL!! We’ve been dumped on in SoCal!Are you going to have any time to wander at all while you’re down in the southland? I’m off work from the 24th to the 2nd.

  5. Jen, as long as you chose to spend your holidays in places like Palm Springs, how can you possibly expect to have a white Christmas? I mean, c’mon, girl!!That being said, I hope you can refocus (hee hee) and have a great holiday. 😀

  6. I LOVE these photos. Especially the drippy ones.Palm Springs should be interesting for Christmas, have you ever spent Christmas there?? We’re in a coooooold spot right now. It’s usually much warmer around here, I guess it makes it feel more like a Winter holiday. Too bad I wasn’t closer to PS, I could finally meet you in person or maybe just peek through your window and wave hi. hahaAs for the Grinch moment, I cannot tell you how many times I’ve done this. I’ve even deleted the post once I was done… but of course I couldn’t delete it from everyone’s readers.. ah well! lol You’ve gotta get that frustration out somewhere, why not here?

  7. I have to say I am a little bit jealous. I have never seen actual snow falling, and I hope to get to someday. I just blogged some actual snow in California, and linked this post, if you want to check it out!
