Ho Hum

I don’t know what my deal is, but I haven’t been able to write a thing. I’ve been working on my Lake Perris post and my 2005 Race for the Cure post and neither one of them are fit for publication. I compose brilliant, award-winning narratives in the shower, in the car, while I’m washing dishes, as I’m getting ready in the morning, but when I sit down to actually write I draw a complete blank.

Taylor and his girlfriend, Kristen, attended the Winter Ball last night. He was handsome and she was, as usual, beautiful. As we drove to her house before the dance I asked him if he was excited. His answer was such a Todd answer I had to laugh. I’m looking forward to it okay, but it’s really about Kristen. I just want her to have as good a time as she’s hoping for. That was a proud mama moment to be sure. Turns out she did have as good a time as she was hoping for and Taylor had as much fun as she did.

We bought Katie the complete series of the Gilmore Girls. She’s been going through it at an incredible pace. Todd has caught a couple episodes and he has fallen under the spell. So last night he and I watched the first three episodes of season one.

He is officially a fan of a girly show. In his defense, though, it is just so darned funny! He tried to swear me to secrecy, but I told him I couldn’t keep this to myself. It begged to be blogged about. Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t stop from telling everyone. So now you know.

After running all over the place yesterday and our typically busy Sunday schedule, I’m looking forward to a day of doing nothing much tomorrow. Both Todd and the kids will be home and about the only thing we have planned is an early dinner at the new Ruby Tuesday by us. That and sleeping in late.

Until next time…

  1. Howdy. You’re such an amazing writer that your “ho hum” is fun to read. Especially the juicy part about the Gilmore girls. 🙂 Sounds like Taylor has definitely been raised right. Enjoy your not-much Monday, but do stop over tomorrow if you can because I’m posting about my little friend Annie again. Blessings, gretchen

  2. I love the Gilmore Girls! I’m still on the fence on whether or not to buy the DVDs ~ I’m currently watching them all in reruns on ABC Family.

  3. Did you know that the scripts for Gilmore Girls were like twice as big as those of other shows . .due to all the intellectual talk and such.DP loved Gilmore Girls, and I watched it when I caught it. I was sufficiently entertained.

  4. I’d watched GG off and on over the years. I really liked Lorelei and Rory’s relationship. And I agree – your most boring post is still more interesting than my best. You have a way with words, even in the briefest of posts.

  5. Ahhh, the elusive blog! What you should do is when you are feeling prolific with poetry – write it and SAVE it for moments such as this! Then you can pull it out right when you need it. Just like frozen spaghetti sauce!

  6. Maybe you need a clip-on tape recorder and head set, so when inspiration strikes, you can just click it on and play girl reporter?! Tho that might be a little hard in the shower…. :o0

  7. Wow…what a thoughtful son you have! Which is a refection on both of both you and your husband’s parenting. That was so mature and there are grown men that don’t care about such things!Never saw the Gilmore girls but I know my girlfriend and her daughter liked the show.Writers block? When something bone dry catches fire…it takes off as a huge fire! Your words will be flying through your fingers onto the keyboard in no time! :)Have a nice dinner! 🙂

  8. Gretchen – You’re so good for my ego. :o) I’ll be sure to stop by.Dev – I snatched a great deal on the complete set before Christmas – $120.00 for all 7 seasons. Considering one season is about $40.00 I thought that was pretty good. Now they’re around $200.00 a set.Beans – I believe that about the scripts. They’re full of intelligent banter and both pop culture and classic trivia. I love that!Stacy – I love their relationship, too. I also like Katie seeing it as cool. And you’re always giving me the big head!!Sing4Joy – I’ve done that before. But right now the bank is empty. :o)Barb – Maybe they make a waterproof recorder??Trish – Thanks! lolSeaspray – From your fingers to God’s eyes! Though it’s “tomorrow” and I’ve still got nothin’.

  9. Maybe are you too critical of your writing when you see it written out. Because I enjoy reading your blog.Thats a sweet boy you have.Gilmore Girls is great. I made my husband watch an episode. Unfortunately it was the first one of season 6 where Rory does some bad stuff with Dean. Needless to say, he really didn’t get into it.

  10. aw, Taylor sounds like such a great young man. And a keeper of a boyfriend, for sure!I never get to watch the Gilmore Girls, but I’ve seen several episodes and the writing on that show is excellent. The funny/clever dialog and banter that goes back and forth is awesome.

  11. Tanya – Yeah. Todd has no idea what’s in store for Rory and he’s not going to be too happy when we get to that point. But it makes for good discussions with Katie.Monnik – That dialogue is what I like so much about the show. Funny stuff.

  12. You can officially pat yourself on the back for doing such an amazing job with your son. :-)The first time I ever saw Lauren Graham (a.k.a. Lorelai Gilmore) was on some sitcom…can’t remember which one (Caroline in the City, Seinfeld, Newsradio?), but she played a psycho control freak. I haven’t been able to get her out of that role. Needless to say, “Gilmore Girls” isn’t one of my shows! :-/ Oh well…like I need to watch more TV.

  13. Awww, what a sweet son you have. And unless I miss my guess, that girlfriend will probably end up a daughter-in-law, because she’s not gonna give up a guy like him!Sounds like you’re having a great day off.

  14. I so miss GG being on the air weekly…just when things were “heating up” and getting good again (I was a bit disappointed with the season prior to the last one)..they cancel. Ah well. I cna still see repeats when they are on!!

  15. Oy with the poodles already! As Lorelai would say. I am probably one of the hugest Gilmore fans. I own all 7 seasons and have watched them once or twice all the way through.. okay maybe three or four times, but whose counting. My brothers are closeted fans. The deny it in public, but they got hooked.
