Goodbye Andrea

Andrea at PunkRockMommy passed away this morning. I can honestly say I have never admired anybody more than I admire her. Her blog was a diary of her journey with breast cancer and the one thing that shines with every post is her faith in God. She knew her time was quickly coming to an end and yet she still wrote to encourage others. She had that “peace that passes understanding” and it was evident in every word. The post which the above-link takes you to is her last post. It talks about her passing. It is sad and joyful and moving and tragically beautiful. My heart aches for her husband and her children, but it soars for her because she’s no longer sick or in pain. In fact, she’s praising God with the angels in her distinctively punk rock mommy style!

  1. Peace is hers. And I hope peace will find her family. Even in grief, it is good to know that the pain is over. I found that after my husband was gone, and I hope her family does, too.

  2. What a moving post. This is the first post I have read on her blog, but I will continue to read what Kelly writes. I am broken-hearted for her family, but know that she is rejoicing. I rejoice for her while shedding tears for her family and friends. Thank you for sharing this.

  3. That had me bawling my eyes out. It’s apparent that she’s left quite a legacy…and that her faith in the Lord was strong to the end. Tragic, and yet so wonderfully hopeful. Our VBS starts at church tonight, and has been an uphill battle…discouraging, and weighing heavily upon me because I’m ‘heading up the committee’…but reading her final post was just what I needed today to keep me going strong when the pressure is on. Somehow this (and other recent happenings) got me thinking how life is brief…how there could be children coming to this VBS that have only a short time left, and need to meet Jesus this week. Helped me to get my focus back where it should be.
