A Day of Hair, Leaves and Dogs

You may recall a month ago or so I said I was going to cut my hair after I’d lost 15 pounds. I changed my mind. I haven’t lost 15 pounds, but I did cut my hair today. Well, I didn’t cut my hair because I’m totally inept at that. Just ask Todd. Or Taylor. Or Katie. They each have received one hair cut from me. Lucky for Taylor and Katie their haircuts where when they were very young. Todd was not so lucky. But I digress.

As I said, I haven’t lost 15 pounds. I’ve lost 10. First I lost six pounds, then I gained five, then I lost four. So I may not be ten pounds lighter than I was, but I did lose ten. But that doesn’t even matter because I decided I really needed the change. I very much like it, though it doesn’t make me look 30 pounds lighter like I’d hoped. *sigh*

The cut is great, but at this very moment it looks hysterical. I ended up with a migraine today so I came home, popped two Excedrin Migraines and fell asleep on the couch with Sookie. So I think I’ll go wash it and see what I can do with it.

My friend, Darlene, is my stylist and she lives on a dairy farm in the country. So I grabbed my much adored camera and took a little drive after. The leaves are starting to change, though we’re still a few weeks away from peak foliage.

And the Sookie portion of today’s post. Look what she did to the screen. We still close it, though, to keep the really big bugs out.

An innocent looking Sookie.

  1. Congrats on the weight loss! Every bit counts.I am so totally jealous of all you east coasters. Everything is so beautiful in the fall! *sigh* It all just turns brown her in So Cal. Well, it turns brown-er.Be sure to post a pic of your new haircut!

  2. I want to see a pic of your new hairdo! Please! =)I love the pictures, makes me envious. I’d have to drive a ways to see meadows like this. As for the fall changing trees… I’d have to take a plane or drive a long long ways. And Sookie’s innocent! Can’t you see it in her eyes? =)

  3. OK…I’m pretty sure you were supposed to text me a picture of your new “do” Congrats on the 10 pounds…I know how tought that can be to do. Maggie did the same thing to our screen a couple of years ago. We replaced it with a pet screen that she hasn’t been able to damage. Let me know if you want to know where we got it from.I hope your migraine went away!

  4. Don’t be a hater, show us your hair. Sorry about the migraine. Me too, me too. I know exactly how you feel. Shut out the lights the world and the sound. Then we’re maybe going to live. Our dog once jumped through the screen because of thunder. I hope your bugs are gone for the season. 🙂

  5. Gorgeous pictures, Jen! It is such a beautiful time of the year. I really do like Fall.HA! My dog’s better than yours! She only popped the screen out of the track. It hangs there loose, but it seems to be working for keeping the bugs out, and they all love being able to run in and out at will. I guess I’d better go buy a doggy door. sighhhh.

  6. Oh, can’t wait to see your hair!!!Good job on the weight–and you know, more will come when you just do it and stop focusing on it so much. I seemed to lose the most weight when I stopped obsessing about it. Funny how that works.Darn dogs–they can get away with murder, just with one sly look on their face and a little lick.Pics are great–looks like Darlene lives in the middle of nowhere!

  7. Where is the picture of your hair cut? I want to see it, cause I need a new style. Congratultions on your 10 pounds. That is awesome. Have you seen mydailyplate.com I haven’t either, but my friend who keeps loosing, loves it.Sookie is so cute and so BIG!!! Funny how fast they grow. I loved the country looks/photos. Great way to spend an afternoon.Feel better, keep those migraines away. Do you know what it triggering them?XXXXXXXX

  8. yes—where's the pic of the haircut….and, hair can be heavy. If you've weighed yourself AFTER the haircut & the number is lower, then surely you can count that as lost weight. I mean—were you really THAT specific when you set the initial goal, as to address what can & cannot be included? I think hair totally counts. I'm just sayin' ……….and that drive…could you imagine getting to drive that every day? How peaceful it could be? (…and then there's me…who is ALWAYS running late & would curse myself for moving to the sticks every time I had to make that long drive to the freeway!)

  9. Woo hoo! I’ve lost 10, too. Not 15. We’re on the same train 🙂 And, so sorry, I extended the mutual cheerleading offer then totally bailed. It was all I could do to get through the past two months *and* cut calories/work out like a triathlete… With all that effort, I expected to lose 30 pounds, but I’ll take the 10. 10 to go.I’d love to see the haircut! Post photos!
